MY 2017

2017 is a beautiful year filled with amazing adventures, love and positivity. It was exactly how I envisioned my year to be. I was surrounded by a genuine circle of friends, and of course my family. Same goals, same values and what was so important to me was that the support, creativity, love and laughter went full circle. There was no time for small minds, hate and negativity. Dan and I are always consciously making an effort to improve ourselves and our craft, so we challenged ourselves to travel to 10 different destinations this year. It could be anywhere, and we ended up in 10 different countries and 27 different cities.

We started off our year in Australia - Sydney and Tasmania. We had the best time in Tassie, celebrating our 5th Anniversary, running down vineyards, feeding emus in the safari and the hightlight of our trip: looking up to the milkyway and a sky full of stars. You can view more of our Australia story here and watch our video here.

UK - London, Bath and Brighton. London will always hold a special place in our hearts. I've been to London 3 times now but have never travelled out of. We enjoyed Brighton so much that Dan made a joke that he wanted to retire there. We have plans to head back in 2018, probably can start looking for homes? (jokes.)

Paris. As I wanted to visit every Disneyland in the world, Dan and I made a short trip back to Paris. It was our first Disneyland of the year, not the most enjoyable but checked it off my list anyway! Watch our video here.

Amsterdam, Netherlands. We visited our friends, Julie and Yoeri and they took us out on a little island, Vinkeveen Se Plassen, it was our first time on a boat stay. Yet another night to remember, barbequing franks and having hearty conversations by the fire, swimming in the lake and enjoying the fresh air of this island.

The biggest roadtrip of the year: USA. We travelled to San Franciso, LA, Vegas, Arizona, Utah, Yosemite, NYC, DC and lastly Boston. As I have family living permanently in America, it feels like home to me for years now. 2017 is the year we decided to make our epic roadtrip dream come true! Also headed back to Anaheim's Disneyland for the 6th time too, 2nd Disneyland of the year checked!

We found ourselves staring at one of the world wonders in India, the Taj Mahal. Took a flight out 2 days after we came back from the USA and it was truly worth it. We had so many beautiful memories together with our group of friends we went with. Read more here.

Hong Kong marked the 3rd and last Disneyland of the year. We visited Hong Kong during a bad time but we had fun finding the best Dim Sum, and not forgetting ending the trip with a night of magic in Disneyland Hong Kong. Watch our video here.

Mount Bromo | Kawah Ijen, Surabaya. Tackled the toughest hike of the year as the winds were crazy strong while we were hiking up. We were finding it a challenge to stand our ground because the wind was litereally pushing our weight off the ground. All while trying to prevent the sand from flying into our eyes plus the tiny rocks were flying and hitting against our bodies, oh I don't even wanna talk about how cold it was too... but they say the toughest roads often lead to beaultiful destinations. Read our story here and watch our video here.

Phuket, Bangkok, Chiang Mai. Such a meaningful and memorable trip with Dan, my Mom and my Sister (who flew back from States to travel with us). The highlight of the trip: celebrating my Mom's birthday at the Yi Peng festival in Chiang Mai. Truly magical experience which I would love to relive over and over again.

Bali, Indonesia. Bali has always been one of must-go destinations and we made it there this year, we were lucky that we left before the Mount Agung incident. Even though we didn't get to explore most of Bali, we know that we will find ourselves back there again!

And finally, Dubai, UAE. Dubai is an absolutely modern yet stunning country. Dan and I got to ride a camel in the desert while the sun sets, it was such a breathtaking sight. I felt like an Arabian princess in the desert. We ate Arabic food and sweets, visited the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and had the best and most unforgettable time with our family.

What a year, indeed. Remember, have the courage to follow your heart and intution, and move forward with a happy spirit, always. Thank you for following our journey, let's bring on more good vibes in 2018, we're ready!

Love,
Amelyn.
