FROM ITALY WITH LOVE | ROME & POSITANO

Hi loves, I hope you've enjoyed Part 1 of our Italian adventure! Now I'm back to share the second part of our trip - Rome and Positano! We had so much more to explore and we made sure we had as much Gelato as we could along the way!

FONTANA DI TREVI

Ah, love at the fountain. We had so many questions on what time we arrived as this fountain is usually packed with tourists. As Dan and I wanted to have some peaceful time at the fountain to shoot some photos, we got there at 6.30am and guess what - there were already people there! We still had a chance to take photos before the crowd came spilling in. A very lovely couple there told us to throw 3 coins into the fountain. The first coin should be thrown from the right hand over the left shoulder and it ensures that you will return to Rome in the future. The second will ensure a new romance, and the third will ensure marriage! Dan and I threw 3 coins in, even though we didn't need a new romance. We just did it for the fun of all the other tourists doing it as well!

PANTHEON

After leaving the Trevi fountain, we walked over to the Pantheon. There is no entry free to the Pantheon, and you need to have your shoulders and knees covered to enter. What I would love to talk about is what I saw right outside the Pantheon. Dan and I witnessed a man kneeling over to feed a man who was disabled. He could not walk and he moved around with the aid of a skateboard. The man kneeled there for over 20 minutes, he conversed with the man on the skateboard all while feeding him a sandwich and a cup of water. It was such a beautiful thing to witness, such compassion and love between strangers. It's times like this that makes you question, when was the last time you did something for someone without expecting anything in return?

COLOSSEO

We headed to the Colosseum the next day, we made sure to get our tickets online and we were so thankful we did, because the line was insanely long. We got our tickets from Headout. We got the ticket that had access to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. We spent about 4-5 hours for all 3 places. All 3 places are of walking distance and we did not get a guide for any of it either.

VATICAN CITY

The Vatican City is our favourite place in Rome, we had a neck ache from looking up the entire time we were there. The paintings on the ceilings are soooo realistic. It was such a sight to see. We were immensely impressed with the whole place that kept forgetting to take our cameras out. We were so absorbed in the history of the Vatican, it was honestly breathtaking.

As usual, we got our tickets online and we got to skip the line. You can get the tickets either from Headout or Musement.

ST. PETER'S BASILICA

We made it to St. Peter's Basilica for a quick one after breakfast. We did not manage to go in as we had to catch our train to Positano. I would still recommend you guys to go in and explore!

And now, off to our last city - Positano! 🍋

Positano is such a dream, it is my second favourite city in Italy. Of course, Venice would be the first. We had such a swell time in Positano. The weather was great and we had one too many limoncellos. We would definitely come back again, to visit Capri and Amalfi. We climbed up and down thousands of steps everyday, it was definitely a great work out. Dan and I also bumped into Robbie Amell while we were there and we were a little too star struck (lol). Other than swimming at the beach, we spent time exploring the Piazza, going in and out of shops. A very lovely plate store owner recommended that we try the lemon Granita and once we did, we couldn't stop. A Granita is a semi frozen dessert, it was so refreshing and addictive. Remember not to leave Positano before trying a lemon Granita!

And that's a wrap for my Italy post and I hope you've enjoyed it! Feel free to leave me a comment if you have any questions. And check out our Italy vlog below!

Love,
Amelyn
